SPOKEN WORD/POETRY SHOWCASE PRODUCER
Conney D. Williams is a Los Angeles based poet, actor and performance artist originally
from Shreveport, Louisiana where he worked a radio personality. He has one
previous collection of poetry “Leaves of Spilled Spirit from an Untamed Poet
(2002).” His poetry has also been published in various publications and
anthologies, Voices from Leimert Park; America: At the End of the Day; and The
Drumming Between Us. He has appeared on stage and television. He has a passion
for writing has performed his poetry on television, radio, galleries,
universities/schools, coffee houses, and stages around Southern California and
across the country; including the Black Arts Festival. He is a community
activist and has worked with youth for over 25 years. He is formerly an
ordained minister and Youth Pastor in the Church of God in Christ. He is the
Artistic Director at the World Stage in Leimert Park; and is a member and
current Coordinator for the Anansi Writers Workshop. This workshop at the World
Stage has produced some the most respected African American writers in the
country. His has collaborated with artist Charles Bibbs on the production of WordArt; a monthly event of poetry,
jazz, and visual art. He has hosted several poetry venues and been a curator
for many poetry/jazz events throughout Los Angeles. He has been the Poet’s
Stage Coordinator for the Leimert Park Book Fair for five of its six-year
existence. He is currently writing his first novel “The Art of Breathing”.
RAMONA STEPHENS

Ramona
Stephens is a writer, comedienne, and actress. She is originally from
Georgia and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her talent as a comedienne.
Ramona has been a rising star since hitting the Los Angeles comedy scene
in 2003. Her unique comedy style that speaks to real life situations
and her life makes her a favorite with all audiences. Ramona has
performed her tsunami comedy act in all the major comedy clubs stages
throughout the Metropolitan Los Angeles area including The Improv and
The Comedy Union, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory( her last performance was Mothers Day 2011) and the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club, to name a few.
Ramona’s recent debut hosting on the main show
at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank was an enormous success. Ramona’s
standout performance at the “Taste of Soul” hosted by J Anthony Brown
was a highlight in her career, as well as performing at the Tom Joyner
Family Reunion in Orlando , Fl. This performance opened the door to her
hosting Ladies Night every Thursday night at the J-Spot from January
2010 to March 2011.
Having graced the stage with such names as Katt
Williams, Damon Wayans, Mike Epps, Sheryl Underwood, Michael Coylar and J
Anthony Brown she has been labeled a natural comic and looks forward to
an iconic career. Her raising career is complimented by her passion for
charities and community activism. She recently performed and raised
money for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Baldwin Hills
2011,
in which she was the host for the entire event and on the entertainment
committee as well,( this was Ramona’s third year performing for the
Relay for life; she is team captain) and the K.I.S. Foundation
benefiting Sickle Cell Disease. Ramona performs for numerous charities
and community events throughout the Los Angeles and metropolitan Atlanta
area. Ramona has a huge fan base and enjoys performing for private
parties and events when she is not booked in Hollywood . She is a member
of Overcomers Church of God in Christ, and is employed as a full time
Executive Administrative Assistant at a Real Estate/Property Management
Company in Los Angeles. It has been a tough journey for Ramona but she
continues to thank God for the talents He has blessed her with. Ms.
Stephens has decided to stay faithful, humble; giving God the
entire honor and all the praise and staying true to her values and
morals and waiting on the Lord to continue working in her life and
career.
