Welcome!

Sika, Amaechina and Juan welcomes everyone to our 5th Annual FREE Leimert Park Village African Art and Music Festival.  If you haven't been to our Festival, you are in store for a magically great time.  Our event has the feel of a small intimate, and classy garden party but will all the upscale amenities you'd find at the largest outdoor festival.

We work very hard year-round to make this the most enjoyable experience and a crown jewel event for the City of Los Angeles.  We like to say our festival footprint of about 10,000 people over three days is just right....not too big to be overwhelming and not to small where there's not enough to satisfy our multi-generational, and multicultural audience. And, from the extremely positive comments we receive from our audience, the vendors, local businesses and even the residents....we are so humbly proud to say that we are succeeding.

This year, the theme for our 2013 festival is "Loving Our Community".  Historic Leimert Park Village is a unique community with a rich history where the arts have played a major role in knitting together diverse communities and people of all walks of life.  Many notable people have had a hand in making this an internationally known community.  We appreciate those that came before us and laid the groundwork upon which we hope to continue to build for the future generations to follow.

Thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to seeing you this year - especially on the dance floor!

Our Sponsors

At the very inception of this festival in 2009, a unanimous decision was made to make this a free-to-the-public event.  Individuals, families and communities around the country were struggling with unprecedented economic challenges.  And fine artists, vendors and small businesses were severely impacted as well.  Times of great difficulties require us all to do our part.  And, although we felt strongly that we could produce an exceptional event that promoted commerce, culture and community, we knew it would be difficult to execute without the the support of our local civic officials and national and local corporate partners.

Therefore, our gratitude is heartfelt for the support we have received from:

"Leaving A Legacy"

"Leaving A Legacy" is our Festivals' theme for 2012.  We feel this theme can be universally understood, and expressed by individuals, families, communities, nations and Continents.

What does leaving a legacy mean to you?   Have you benefited from someone's legacy?  What legacy do you want to leave?  How important is leaving a legacy to you?  These are all questions and ideas we would like to ask and discuss because we feel that what each of us do individually and collectively impacts us all.

To promote this discussion, we have commissioned our 2012 featured Fine Artist, Ramsess, to create an original work of art which displays some aspect of the notion of  leaving a legacy.  This image will be used on all our promotional materials, and official festival merchandise.

Ramsess

Ramsess is an accomplished, and prolific, self-taught fine artist that works in various mediums, including stained glass, painting and handmade art quilts.  He is also a milner.  He has an extensive product line that includes original fine art as well as prints, calendars, greeting cards, coloring books, T-shirts and hats for men.

We hope you connect with our theme and join in on the discussion below..
